Uzbekistan. 1452 stories

On April 9, 2009 the Independent Press-Center hosted the presentation of "List of people arrested and convicted because of political and religious reasons in Uzbekistan (January 2004 – December 2008)".

Vitaliy Ponomarev, the director of Central Asian Program of HRC Memorial, and Bakhrom Hamroev, the president of the Society of political émigrés from Central Asia, talked about the importance of composing such lists and about the situation with political émigrés from Uzbekistan on the whole.
Nasrullo Holmukhamedov from Andizhan (Uzbekistan) told the story of his brother Rakhmatillo who was arrested in 1999 and is still serving his sentence.
