Human Rights Center "Memroial" invites you to the presentation of the

List of people arrested and convicted because of political and religious reasons in Uzbekistan in 2004-2008

The participants:

· Ponomarev Vitaliy Anatolievich, the director of Central Asian Program of HRC "Memorial",

· Hamroev Bahrom Mardonovich, the president of the Society of political émigrés from Central Asia

416-pages list includes data about 1452 victims of political repressions, 94,3% of which were convicted of illegal Islamic activity. Also 30 human rights activists, 14 members of democratic opposite organizations, 18 journalists and authors, more 20 adepts of "unconventional confessions" etc. became the victims of repressions in last five years.
The lists of the victims of political repressions are being published by "Memorial" since 1999. Nowadays the database of HRC "Memorial" includes information about 6.000 of the victims of political repressions.
