International Memorial Nominated for the Nobel Prize

International Historical, Educational, Human Rights and Charitable Society "Memorial" was nominated for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize by a group of deputies of the European Parliament from six countries: Great Britain (Christopher Beazley), Sweden (Gunnar Hokmark), Estonia (Tunne-Valdo Kelam), Poland (Bogdan Klich), Latvia (Rihards Piks) and Finland (Ari Vatanen).

The official application of these people to the Norwegian Nobel Committee runs, in particular, as follows:
"The people of "Memorial" constantly work in areas of military conflicts in the former Soviet Union, documenting cases of breaches of human rights, and using the scarce means at their disposal, to help victims of these wars."
