Another abduction in Dagestan

The number of abductions has sharply increased in Dagestan recently (for example, see: http://www.memo.ru/eng/news/2009/09/02/02090912.htm). On September 8, 2009 HRC Memorial received information on another abduction.

In the morning of September 8, 2009 Sirajudin Shafiev, 1971, resident of Derbent (Dagestan), left his house to drive his child to a kindergarten. Around 8 a.m., several people witnessed how two cars near a south bus station cut in front of Sirajudin's car and blocked it, when Mr Shafiev was coming back home. People in camouflage and masks got out of the car. Without introducing or identifying themselves with any documents, they took Sirajudin out of his car and pushed him into their own car. They then drove off in an unknown direction.

Hadijat Shafieva, Sirajudin's wife, applied to HRC Memorial. She says that Sirajudin wasn't connected with the underground. She adds that the Shafievs' house is situated not far from the house of Emirali Magomedov who was abducted and killed in August 2009 (http://www.memo.ru/eng/news/2009/09/02/02090913.htm) and that Sirajudin talked to Magomedov from time to time.
