Picket in defense of Evgeny Zhovtis

On September 14, 2009, at 3:30 p.m. picket in defense of well-known human rights activist Evgeny Zhovtis will take place. Friends and colleagues will gather near the Kazakh embassy in Moscow (Chistoprudny bul., 3a).

Evgeny Jovtis was sentenced to 4 years of colony by Kazakh court for the violation of traffic rules that lead to the death of a man.

The main aim of the picket is to express protest against unfair and politically tinged sentence of the judge in the criminal case of Zhovtis. It was based on fabricated information and was full of gross procedural violations. Friends and colleagues will express solidarity with Zhovtis and demand to carry out fair proceedings.
