Crime and Prehistory (how one becomes an
insurgant)
On September 11, 2009, at approximately 4:00 a.m. in Nazran (Ingushetia)
Ahrieva street a group of people shot up the house of Ahmed Malsagov. His
son Adam Malsagov appears to have been a police officer.
The shooting did not damage the owner's house, rather it damaged the gas
pipes. In the words of the witnesses there were up to six attackers.
A bullet ricocheted off the house and injured one of the attackers.
His body was later found not far from the Malsagov's house. The man was
identified as a 21-year-old Nazran resident Muhhamad Kodzoev. The body was
released to relatives. Witnesses, on seeing Kodzoev's corpse, avow that, in
addition to the bullet wound in his neck, there were four bullet wounds in his
back.
Human Rights Center Memorial has information that on October 14, 2008
Muhhamad Kodzoev, along with four others, was unlawfully held by police at
Nazran OVD. Kodzoev and one of the four others who were held were beaten. For
two days they were in detention. On October 16, Kodzoev and his
companions were brought in a verdict of guilty of committing an administrative
offence of disorderly conduct (Part 1 Article 20.1 of Code of administrative
infraction of Russia). They were all sentenced to a fine of 500 rubles.
The administrative holding was rescinded. Kodzoev and his companions
contested the decision. (http://www.memo.ru/hr/hotpoints/caucas1/msg/2008/10/m152918.htm).
It is more than likely that after this Muhhamed decided to join the “boyeviks”
and seek his revenge against the police.
