Born 1900 and died 1992 in Moscow. Studied at the Moscow State University, faculty of physics and mathematics (1918-1923); attended Mikhail Shemyakin's studio (1919-1923) and the Revolution Artists Association [AKhR] studio (1926-1929), where his principal teachers were Ilya Mashkov and Boris Ioganson. Attended the Institute for Painters' and Graphic Artists' Professional Development (1936-1938) under Mikhail Sokolov (see). Since 1934 contributed to exhibitions; from 1940 taught painting and drawing at art studios. On 1 October 1947 was arrested in connection with Daniil Andreev's case on charges of anti-Soviet agitation and terrorist intents. On 30 October 1948 he was sentenced by the Special panel [OSO] to twenty-five years of imprisonment plus disenfranchisement; six years were spent in Steplag (Karaganda region); his camp number was CA-759. Was a stage and costume designer; his works produced in camp are not extant. Was released in April 1956 and reinstated in November of the same year. Lived and worked in Moscow.
