Bystroletov, Dmitry Alexandrovich
Graphic artist
Born 1901, the Crimea; died 1975, Moscow. During the 1917 revolution he was in Turkey. Graduate from the Prague University and the Zurich University (faculty of medicine). While studying medicine got interested in painting and graphic art; member of the Soviet Artists Union. From 1925, an OGPU intelligence agent; was arrested on 18 September 1938. About eighteen years were spent in prisons and camps: the Lubyanka prison, Siblag (Mariinsk), Norilsk, Kamyshlag, Taishet, Sukhanovo, etc. In imprisonment he was employed as a physician. Was released in 1954 and reinstated in 1956. Author of memoirs.
