В основе экспозиции, посвященной арестам 25 октября 1917 года – 4 января 1918 года, портреты и биографии пятидесяти человек – первых жертв советских политических репрессий. Для восстановления их судеб использованы фотографии, архивные документы (материалы следственных дел) и публикации многочисленных газет конца 1917 года, которые, несмотря на цензурные преследования, могли еще несколько месяцев публиковать информацию о репрессивных практиках новой власти.

«Наша выставка, – рассказывает куратор Борис Беленкин, – об изначально репрессивной сущности Советского государства. Все, что будет потом: Красный террор эпохи Гражданской войны, Большой террор 1930-х, семидесятилетний цензурный гнет и жестокая борьба с инакомыслием, бессудные расправы, – все заложено, запрограммировано уже в первые дни и недели Советской власти. Разговоры о вегетарианстве большевиков в эти дни – ни на чем не основанный миф. Аресты с самого начала стали знаковой приметой „послеоктябрьской“ эпохи».

Время работы выставки – с 25 октября 2017 года по 25 января 2018 года, ежедневно, кроме субботы и воскресенья, с 11.00 до 19.00 (в холле Международного Мемориала).

На открытии состоится мировая премьера первой части Четвертой симфонии А. И. Вышнеградского (в переложении для фортепиано в четыре руки Н. Арцыбушева и И. Вышнеградского), написанной в одиночной камере Трубецкого бастиона в декабре 1917 года. Исполнители – солисты ансамбля «Студия новой музыки» Мона Хаба, Наталия Черкасова.

Куратор – Борис Беленкин.
